Our Story

Two Friends, One Vision

Who We Are

Evan and Gill are co-founders and close friends. Though at this point we honestly can't remember which came first.

Evan is Kenyan, born and raised in Nairobi, and leads Maison Omondi's African operations. Gill is Belgian, lived in Kenya for several years before settling in Helsinki, and runs the European side of the business.

The idea for Maison Omondi came to life on a camping trip to Lake Nakuru during Gill's last weeks in Kenya, two friends wondering how to build something meaningful together.

What We Do

We make tailored suits in Nairobi for the European market. We take your measurements in Helsinki or Brussels, you choose from our selection of Merino wool and premium Italian Merino wool fabrics, and our tailors craft your suit in Nairobi.

Once your suit arrives, a local tailor remains available for any final adjustments after your first fitting.

For every suit we ship, we purchase and distribute 60 mandazi to children at Destiny Shapers Foundation, an education and community center in Korogocho, one of Nairobi's informal settlements.

Why We Do What We Do

Nairobi's informal settlements are home to families living under real economic pressure, and it's the children who feel it most. For many kids in informal settlements like Korogocho, a meal during the school day is their first, and sometimes only food of the day.

We built Maison Omondi around the belief that a suit can do more than fit well. It can provide a skilled tailor with a fair wage. It can put food on a child's plate. It can be a small but concrete act against poverty.

How We Do It

payments

We pay our tailors fairly relative to the local market, so they can provide for themselves and their families.

restaurant

For the school feeding programme, we source fortified mandazi, a popular triangularly shaped East African fried bread, from TenX Nutrition. Each mandazi packs 11g of protein and covers 25% of a child's daily needs for zinc, iron, folate and vitamin A, alongside a range of other essential vitamins and minerals.

Every suit sold directly funds another round of these meals.

We partner with Destiny Shapers Foundation to ensure meals reach children who need them most in Korogocho.

The Process

Crafted with Purpose

From measurement to final stitch, every suit tells a story of craftsmanship, care, and community.

Step One

Your Measurements

We meet you in Helsinki or Brussels to take precise measurements. Every body is unique, and we capture yours with care and attention to detail. This is where your suit begins its journey.

Step Two

Choose Your Fabric

Select from our curated collection of Merino wool and premium Italian Merino wool fabrics. Each textile is chosen for its quality, durability, and timeless appeal. Your choice sets the tone for your suit's character.

Step Three

Crafted in Nairobi

Your measurements and fabric choice travel to our Nairobi atelier, where skilled tailors bring your suit to life. Each stitch is deliberate, each seam considered. This is where craft meets care, where tradition meets modern technique.

Step Four

Final Fitting

Once your suit arrives, a local tailor in your city remains available for any final adjustments. We believe in perfection, and we're not satisfied until you are. Your suit should feel like a second skin.
